Aim

The acquisition of theoretical and applied knowledge for the design, operation, monitoring and evaluation of systems of waste management and for the actions for environmental restoration.

Objectives

After successfully attending the course the postgraduate student should be capable of:
  • Distinguishing the various types of pollutants in wastes and the pollution degree of the recipients.
  • Knowing the mechanisms of transport and transformation of pollutants, the importance of the bio-physico-chemical parameters and processes as well as their impacts on the environment.
  • Dealing with issues of design, operation, monitoring and regulation of waste management systems.
  • Applying methods and techniques for the evasion of pollution and the reduction of wastes.
  • Familiarizing himself with the regulations and legislation regarding waste management.
